The hiking trail is 14 km round trip to Šiljak Peak.
The one-way hike takes approximately 3 hours. The full round trip, including stops for rest and photos, takes around 6–8 hours.
Bring comfortable hiking shoes, layered clothing suitable for the weather (jacket, sweatshirt), a raincoat or small umbrella, hat and sunscreen for sunny days, snacks or sandwiches, at least 3 liters of water, and a spare set of clothes.
Hiking to the summit of Mount Rtanj is moderate to challenging, requiring a reasonable level of fitness. We follow the southern trail, considered the least demanding route, but the final 500 meters to the peak are steep and require extra effort. Overall, the climb involves a sustained elevation gain of over 1,000 meters, but rest stops along the way make it manageable, and the breathtaking views from the summit make it well worth the effort.
Spring through autumn is ideal, offering mild weather and vibrant landscapes. Winter is possible, but weather conditions can affect the hike.
